Eoff Electric Supply Makes a Difference for Muscular Dystrophy of Oregon

September 18, 2008 - Twelve Eoff Electric Supply employees invested in their communities on Labor Day by answering phones during the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon in Portland, Oregon. The company also presented a check to MDA of Oregon for $4,000.

Eoff Electric Supply is an electrical wholesale distributor serving Oregon and SW Washington. Eoff is headquartered in Portland, Oregon and is part of the Sonepar Group, and international electrical distribution company.

"It was an honor to serve people in our community that truly need our support. I was very touched to listen to a 16-year-old girl describe herself to one of the local celebrities while we were off-air. It made me realize how much this girl dreams just like a girl who is not wheel-chair bound,” said Bob Mumford, Eoff’s Director of Marketing.

Muscular Dystrophy is a group of muscle-destroying disorders that affects over 1200 families in the territory Eoff Electric Supply serves, from Longview, WA to Medford, OR.

Answering phones for five hours on her Labor Day holiday was Denise Erickson, who works in Eoff’s Operations in Portland. She said, “ Answering the phones for the telethon really opened my eyes to the need that exists.  Some of the callers were “Jerry’s kids” themselves; even the adults refer to themselves as “Jerry’s kids.”  So I saw a real sense of belonging for them.  And it really touched me that they would give back to an organization that has done so much for them.  It was a humbling experience, and a great feeling of helping those in need.”

Eoff Electric has a strong history of investing in the communities it serves. “Sacrificial serving is a key part of our culture. We do this constantly throughout all of our 11 branches. However, we do this from the heart of our people…getting recognition for this service has simply not been our purpose,” said Les Williamson, Eoff’s President.
